Intro
The new J.V. Foix Library of Sarrià incorporates three innovative interactive installations that combine technology and education to offer an immersive experience for visitors. WAVM has developed an interactive videowall, an interactive floor, and an interactive table that allow exploration of educational concepts through play and digital experimentation. These installations encourage user participation and transform the library into an active and creative learning space.
Context
The J.V. Foix Library, part of the Barcelona Library Network, is committed to the use of innovative technology to enrich the user experience. The goal of this project has been to integrate interactive tools within the library space to stimulate curiosity and foster learning in a playful way.
What?
WAVM has conceptualized, designed, programmed, and installed three interactive experiences that bring added value to the library:
Interactive Videowall
Composed of four vertically formatted screens, this installation offers three experiences
Texts and Quotes from Authors - A particle system transforms famous phrases into dynamic visual structures. By touching them, the letters scatter, creating a typographic chaos effect.
Image Clusters - Allows navigation through collections of images related to the library's cultural agenda, authors, and J.V. Foix. The images move organically and can be enlarged and displaced.
Free Creation - Simulates the effect of a digital brush, allowing users to generate colorful paths with their fingers, creating shapes and blending colors.
Interactive Floor Projection
Designed for the youngest, this installation uses motion detection to offer different educational games.
Selection Games - Identification of elements related to themes such as mammals, invertebrates, dinosaurs, healthy foods, vowels, even numbers, and geometric shapes.
Particle Repulsion Games - Visual simulations based on seasons or themes like the universe, where children can move elements with their steps.
Psychomotricity Games - Activities to improve coordination and balance, such as completing footprint paths or leaving colorful trails while walking.
Interactive Table
A circular touch table equipped with Displax technology that allows users to create digital art through a system of customizable particles. With an interactive TAG, elements such as color, size, speed, and particle turbulence can be adjusted, facilitating a digital exploration and visual creativity experience.
This project has required the integration of advanced technology, the programming of custom interactive systems, and the design of intuitive interfaces to ensure an accessible and engaging experience for all library users. WAVM has also developed the educational and visual content, ensuring that each interaction is both educational and stimulating.
